Lee
Lee Roy Selmon's story is a mix of the football scholarship of his parents and a commitment to the community. The first time Selmon was brought up with Lucious and Jessie Selmon. They lived on the farm close to Eufala located in Oklahoma as the eldest of the nine children they had. He played second in football and was one of three brothers who played for Oklahoma. Three of them were All-Americans. The year 1973 was the first time Lee Roy and Lucious Jr. Dewey were the first-teamers for the entire year. Lee Roy has won both the Outland Award as well as the Lombardi Award as the best lineman in the country. In three years, Oklahoma was 32-1-1 with Roy being the starting player. They also won 2 national titles. Third scholarship he was named an National Football Foundation Scholar-Athlete in 1975. Selmon was awarded a degree from Education. Lee Roy dedicated ten volunteer time per week throughout the college. In Tampa the Buccaneers, he was a player for the Buccaneers for nine seasons before becoming an all-pro. Additionally, he started a career in business. In 1988, as an account representative at First Florida Bank of Tampa and worked for the Special Olympics Easter Seals Baptist Church Ronald McDonald House United Negro College Fund South Florida Institute Black Life Hall of Fame Bowl Committee. There was no doubt that, in 1982, The Junior Chamber of Commerce named Lee Roy one of 10 young stars throughout the United States. Lee Roy was 6'2" tall and weighed 265lbs when he played college football. He was a captain in 1975. was the captain of the group. In 1993 he joined at the University of South Florida as associate director of athletics. He was named to the College Football Hall of Fame through the GTE Academic All-America Hall of Fame in 1994, as well as the Pro Football Hall of Fame of 1995. The Selmons' parents Lucious and Mary Selmon Sr. have been awarded the Distinguished American Award in 1989 from the Oklahoma City Chapter National Football Foundation.
